"I have never spoken before but I do read a lot of your articles.
I was diagnosed with PSA IN 2018. I was in my 50’s. Not once did any doctor say anything about this disease. I always had dry elbows that would crack and were so painful. Went through several knee surgeries and a back surgery.
Finally, saw a new primary he immediately said I had psoriasis and put me into pain mgt, sent me to a dermatologist and a rheumatologist. Thank you Doc. Oh I was also diagnosed with sleep apnea. I am now on my 5th or 6th biological, going to my third rheumatologist next month. The first one was awesome but he moved into research instead. That was a very sad day.
Elbows have been clear since then but my pain is horrible. Just had another back surgery. I am still working full time and I am exhausted. I feel like I have given up on having fun anymore because I do cancel engagements a lot. This disease is very draining.
On top of that I am a family caretaker for my stroke victim husband, my 87 year old father and a 25 yr old who suffers from terrible anxiety and depression.
That being said, the fatigue does overpower my pain level most of the time.
Thank you all your articles it keeps my sanity in check."

  1. Hi , thank you so much for sharing with us all. It's great to hear that the articles here have been helpful. I definitely know what you mean about them keeping your sanity in check! It really helps to hear that we're not alone in the struggles that this disease brings. It sounds like you've been through such a lot with your psoriatic disease over the years. I'm sorry to hear that you're dealing with horrible pain at the moment 😢 Hopefully the rheumatologist will have some suggestions for you at your appointment next month. Are you on any treatments currently? And how is your recovery from the back surgery going? As someone who also cares for a family member, I can definitely relate to trying to balance being a carer with trying to look after our own bodies. It is a challenge. Please know that we're all here anytime you need support. Warmest wishes, -Catherine, Community Moderator
